Travaillant la technique de broderie depuis 2012, l’artiste aborde toutefois cette récente série avec un aspect plus conceptuel de la fibre. Si la broderie et le papier faits main sont d’abord des savoirs traditionnels, il n’en demeure pas moins qu’ils sont exploités ici de manière contemporaine: le choix des motifs, l’agencement des points et la disposition créent un visuel qui oscille entre abstraction et figuration.

La série ton sur ton est née d’un désir de broder sur un papier de la même couleur que le fil, sans toutefois intervenir sur le papier pour le teinter. En collaboration avec l’atelier retailles, un support a été réalisé à partir uniquement de fil de coton à broderie. Le fil est donc ici utilisé à double vocation : comme support et motif. Il en résulte des œuvres où la perception est remise en jeu, où l’œil ne regarde finalement que la fibre, déclinée sous plusieurs états.

2018 - ongoing project

Using embroidery since 2012, this serie considers fiber in a more conceptual way. As handmade embroidery and paper are first and foremost traditional knowledge, it remains that they are used here in a contemporary way: the choice of patterns, the disposition of the stitches and the arrangement create a visual that oscillates between abstraction and figuration.

The tone on tone serie started with a desire to embroider on a paper that is the same color as the thread, without altering the paper in any way. In collaboration with the atelier retailles, a support was made from only cotton embroidery thread. The fiber is therefore used here for two purposes: as a paper and a pattern. Perception is then involved in every artwork your eye meets: you are solely looking at the fiber in various forms but you won’t necessarily see it.
