C’est suite à une résidence effectuée dans la région péruvienne de Chirikyaku en 2016 que la tentative de représenter le paysage avec le textile s’articule pour une première fois dans la pratique de l’artiste. L’immersion dans la jungle avec une végétation des plus variées, le contact avec les femmes qui tissent et la culture du café étant des lignes directrices qui sont ici interprétées de manière personnelle par l’artiste. L’idée était d’abord et avant tout de rendre compte du lieu, de transmettre le ressenti d’une expérience: le tout présenté comme étant à mi-chemin entre le tissage traditionnel de l’objet artisanal et la pratique contemporaine de la broderie. C’est par cette série que débute l’intérêt de l’artiste à vouloir traduire le paysage et à en approfondir ses explorations.

After an art residency in the Peruvian region of Chirikyaku in 2016, Peru is the starting point in the artist’s interest of translating the landscape and exploring ways to do it using embroidery and fiber as principal medium. Being in the jungle with luxurious vegetation, the contact with the women who use traditional weaving techniques and the culture of coffee were the guidelines of this experience. The idea was first and foremost to give a “translation” of the site, to communicate the feeling of an experience through textile: half of it was inspired by the weaved craft object and its traditional heritage and the other by the contemporary practice of embroidery.
